We have had a busy first week back to school after the Thanksgiving Break, and we are so excited about all our students have accomplished during the first semester. We met our schools AR reading goal right before the break, and everyone gathered outside at the end of the day to celebrate. The children had an awesome time singing and dancing with Dr. Rodriguez and Dr. Moody who were leading the reading rally from on top of the school's roof! The children loved seeing this! We are still focused on reading independently and with someone at home or school, so please remember that you can bring your child to curiosity shop on Tuesday and Thursday's to take AR test in the library after school. Also, set aside some time each night for quiet reading together! This week we had a visit from our school guidance counselor, Mrs. Quarles, and she also read and discussed a book with our class about being fair, taking turns, and not always having to be first. It was a really cute story, and the students even helped Mrs. Quarles discover another lesson in the story which was really interesting. Talk to your child about the visit to find out about the lessons they learned from the story, and about their favorite story we've read at school this semester. As always, please feel free to leave us a comment too, about your favorite books you've read together at home as well. Have a great weekend, and don't forget to read a good book together!

Guidance Visit
Mrs. Quarles, our school guidance counselor, visited our class this month to discuss good touch/bad touch. She shared important tips for our students to remember to keep themselves safe. One rule she shared was tell somebody (an adult) who will believe you if there is a problem. Talk to your child to find out what other important rules they learned about during her visit. Mrs. Quarle's character education word is "dependability" for the month of September. Ask your child to share ways they can be dependable at school and at home!
