Happy 100th Day!

This has been a fun filled day of learning with all types of 100 day activities. We read the books "100th day of school" and "100 Ways to get to 100". We counted to 100 by ones, fives, and tens. We wrote a journal about what we would do with $100 dollars. Malachi wrote "buy plates for his mom". Keagan wrote "put it in the bank to save". We counted by fives to complete a 100th day connect the dots picture of a heart, and wrote "I love 100". Keagan counted 100 pieces of candy at home with his mom. Adediwura counted 100 peas, and said she put them in groups of ten. Jada counted 100 pieces of colored paper, and we will use them to make a special project in class together to display. We made special hats announcing that "We are 100 days smarter!", and completed a paper about all the things we can now do on the 100th day of school. Wow, now it's time for our count down boys and girls, only 74 days left in school. Thanks for making our first 100 days of school a wonderful learning experience together!

AR Reading

Congratulations to our students who reached their AR reading goal for the second nine weeks. The children enjoyed attending a magic show in the gym, and pirate themed treat bags. We are now working towards reaching our new AR goals for this nine weeks, so don't forget that you and your child can come to the Curiosity Shop after school on Tuesdays and Thursdays to read and take test too!

Measurement

We are currently working on our Measurement unit. Chloe found a stencil with a ruler on the side to measure her drawing, and was very excited to find this tool. Adediwura and Aiden were comparing who is the shortest and tallest by looking at the different pieces of yarn posted on our class wall that we used to measure each student's height. Help your child find different ways to measure at home also, for example, use paper clips or trace your foot for nonstandard measurements, or use a ruler or tape measurer to find out how long different objects are in your home. Have fun!
